Books Across The Seas – Bringing joy through books

February 23, 2008 was a red letter day for Mayantoc High School and the 141 school children of Carabaoan-Caocaoayan Elementary School at Barangay Carabaoan in Mayantoc, Tarlac. On separate occasions, M/BH Felicitas G. Flores of Tarlac branch led the donation of books to the recipients as the Books Across The Seas (BATS) project widen its reach in Central Luzon. Their students were even asked to attend Saturday classes to witness the simple turnover ceremony that was held in the school grounds.

Present during the turnover ceremonies were Lt. Col. Ferdinand S. Razalan, who is also from Mayantoc, Fortune Tobacco Corporation Manager Bun Chit Yu of Hope & Winston Division and District Supervisor Rustico B. Corpuz. Lt. Col. Razalan played a key role in providing transportation for the delivery of books from BATS warehouse in Novaliches. Principal Perla D. Alonzo of Mayantoc High School was accompanied by the school faculty as she received the donated books. Meanwhile Principal Aurelio S. Carmelo of Carabaoan-Caocaoayan Elementary School delivered his acceptance speech expressing his profound gratitude for the 500 assorted books donated to their school and how this would benefit their students.

        The Books Across The Seas project is a collaboration of the Rotary Club of Makati and Allied Bank as it continues its advocacy on education in providing avenues to donate educational books nationwide.
