Allied Banking Corporation (ABC), Philippine National Bank (PNB), Department of Education, 10 Rotary Districts and Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila has successfully held the 10th Voice of our Youth (VOY) Impromptu Speaking Competition Grand finals last February 06, 2009 at the Philamlife Auditorium, U.N. Avenue, Ermita Manila hosted by the 2006-2007 VOY National Champion Ms. Sarah Kristine M. Alanzalon. Started in 1989 as a pet project of Dr. Lucio C. Tan, it aims to develop English proficiency in Filipino High school students. The event was honored by Undersecretary Ramon C. Bacani of the Department of Education and District Governor Josefina S. Ang of Rotary Club. The Board of Judges consists of Dr. Fe A. Hidalgo (Chairperson of the Board of Judges), Dr. Jose A. Dalisay Jr., Dr. Evelina M. Vicencio, Mr. Manuel L. Quezon III and Ms. Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo. 20 High school students from all over the country went through club & district level competition to vie for the title and finally Mr. Marlo Karlo T. Carrasco of St. Mary’s Development School of Cagayan De Oro City emerged as the National Champion while Mr. Vicente Benjamin G. Gustilo of St. John’s Institute of Bacolod City as the National Runner-up. To complete the celebration, an Appreciation Dinner hosted by Honorary Chairman Dr. Lucio C. Tan followed at the Century Park Hotel to award the cash prizes for the 20 District Finalists, the National Runner-up and the National Champion. This was attended by Senior Managers of Allied Bank & PNB headed by their President Reynaldo A. Maclang (ABC), President & CEO Omar Byron T. Mier (PNB) and Rotary Club members that facilitated the club & district level competition.
